A two semester lecture with about 10 practical lab exercises covering: Dynamics, Newtons Laws & Applications, Introduction to mechanics, Thermo- dynamics, geometrical Optics, Vibrations & Waves and some basic phenomena of Special Relativity.
A one semester lecture with a bit of drill: quantum mechanical basics, electron gas model, Fermifunction, basics of semiconductors, crystall stuctures and imperfections, mechanical behaviour of solids, intro to magnetic phenomena and applications.
seminar with exercise and numerical simulation: here we start with Maxwell's 1. & 2. equation and utilize finite differences (FD) an finite elements (FEM) to evaluate electric potentials and fields, the Biot-Savart law and the magnetic field of current lines, force on charged particles in electromagnetic fields, Particle Drifts, Lenses & Focussing, Particle Traps.
The Simulations are performed with
